Mayor Kip Holden's sister released from custody
The sister of East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Kip Holden has been released from custody while she waits for sentencing with seven other defendants on Aug. 19. Last year Evelyn Holden, 53, pleaded guilty to taking part in a conspiracy to fix criminal and traffic cases in Baton Rouge City Court.
Holden had been in custody since December, when she was arrested on additional charges for allegedly trying to extort money from a married man. Police say she was having an affair with him.
On June 4, a U.S. District Judge ruled that she could remain in home confinement to help care for her disabled son. She can only leave the home if it relates to the medical needs of her son.
