Mayor Holden rings bell for Salvation Army
BATON ROUGE - Baton Rouge's mayor picked up a Salvation Army bell Thursday to help raise money for the charity .
Mayor Kip Holden appeared at the Walmart on College to collect contributions for the nearly 150-year-old charitable organization.
"It's a great time in Baton Rouge to see people rise up to the occasion to help those who are less fortunate," said Holden.
Bell ringers, with their red kettles, raise donations that help pay for Christmas dinners, clothes, toys and basic necessities to families in need during the holidays.
