BATON ROUGE- Mayor-President Melvin “Kip” Holden held a press conference on Wednesday to announce his candidacy for Louisiana’s 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives race this week.
Holden said back in March that he was “90 percent” sure he was running.
Currently democrat Cedric Richmond holds the position, who was first elected in 2010. The election for that seat will be held on Nov. 8.
Holden previously lost to former Plaquemines Parish president Billy Nungesser for lieutenant governor last November in the runoff election by a 55-45 percent margin.
