Master plan introduced for Livingston Parish growth
LIVINGSTON - Livingston Parish leaders want to address the parish's drastic population boom.
From 2000 to 2010, the parish's population grew nearly 40 percent. Leaders want to create a master plan to deal with the increase.
"We're already way behind in infrastructure," Parish President Layton Ricks said. "We're already behind the eight ball in all these areas because again of the growth."
The plan will focus on infrastructure and the fact that there are no zoning laws in the parish.
Wednesday night, the Steering Committee will meet to discuss proposals. The committee will deal with undeveloped land near the I-12 corridor.
The parish council expects the proposals by late May or early June.
