Mary J. Blige is final act for 2011 Essence Fest
NEW ORLEANS- Mary J. Blige is no stranger to the Essence Music Festival and this year marks her 10th time as a performer, but her first as the event's closing night showstopper.
In an interview before Sunday's evening concert inside the Louisiana Superdome, Blige told The Associated Press that she plans to put on a signature, high-energy show.
She says she hopes to show everyone a good time while giving fans a chance to hear some of their favorite songs. She also tells them to put on their dancing shoes, because she plans to definitely keep them dancing.
Also scheduled to perform Sunday on the final day of the three-day event are Trey Songz, Kem and New Edition, including original member Bobby Brown.
