Despite chilly temperatures the big pre-Lenten party in New Orleans is getting hot.
Along historic St.Charles Avenue, revelers stacked ladders, chairs, and roped off areas to watch Mardi Gras festivities.
Fat Tuesday morning kicked off with Pete Fountain's "Half Fast Walking Club," which is celebrating its 50th year of parading this year.
Then came the Krewe of Zulu which has been parading since 1909. They're famous for their unique and treasured throws-hand decorated coconuts.
After Zulu comes Rex-the king of carnival. Rex dates back to 1872. It will be followed by an endless line of 18-wheelers, each decorated by a different group.
