KENTWOOD - Law enforcement agents headed back out today to continue their search for a suspected kidnapper and rapist in Tangipahoa Parish.
Kaunda Magee, 36, has been on the run for 12 days after leading deputies on a chase from Washington Parish into Tangipahoa. He has outstanding warrants for kidnapping, rape and several counts of attempted murder of a police officer.
Dawn Panepinto with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office said they are still focused on a heavily-wooded area that stretches from Kentwood to East Fork. On Oct. 14 a homeowner in that area said Magee came up to their door asking if he could come in, then fled back into the wooded area.
"We have gone after this aggressively," states Sheriff Edwards. "We have received an abundance of support from 15 additional law agencies and from the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness."
Magee was last seen wearing camo pants, a green hooded shirt and black lace-up boots.
A $10,000 reward is being offered for anyone with information that leads to the capture and arrest of Magee. If you have information, contact the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office at (985) 345-6150.
