TANGIPAHOA PARISH - The mandatory evacuation of areas within half a mile of the Tagipahoa River has been lifted by parish president Gordon Burgess.

Residents in areas where the flood waters have receeded may return to their homes, but there is still substantial flooding along the Tangipahoa River.

The mandatory evacuation for the Manchac area, Akers community, Lee's Landing and all areas south of Wadesboro and Weinberger Roads remain in effect.
