Managers for LSU online store deny hacking
BATON ROUGE - The company that manages LSU's official online merchandise store issued an apology Monday morning after they claimed a "human error" mistakenly displayed Alabama merchandise on the shop's homepage.
Between 10:40 p.m. and 2:45 a.m. on Sunday night and Monday morning, lsushop.net was painted with crimson and white merchandise leading some LSU fans to believe the site was hacked by Alabama fans.
TeamFanShop, the company that manages 60 sports team stores including ones for LSU and Alabama, issued a statement acknowledging the mix up, claimed it was just an error made by an employee and denied it being a hack.
"Early this morning, LSU fans may have noticed that part of LSU's official online store mistakenly displayed the Alabama Crimson Tide online store," said TeamFanShop's Sales and Marketing Vice President Brian Swallow.
"This was the result of human error by a designer and was not the result of a hack by any outside party. At no time was customer information compromised. This error has since been fixed and the LSU Athletics official online store, www.LSUshop.net, is now being displayed properly. We apologize for the inconvenience, appreciate your patience, and look forward to the BCS Championship Game on January 9."
TeamFanShop has worked with LSU Athletics since 2005.
