BATON ROUGE - Deputies said the victim of a shooting at a Baton Rouge apartment complex was arrested after he admitted to investigators that he was in possession of a stolen gun.

EBRSO said officers were dispatched to The Reserve apartment complex in the 17200 block of Jefferson Highway at around 1:30 a.m. Friday to a report of shots fired.

At the scene, they found one man who had been hit by gunfire and sustained injuries that were not life threatening. The man, 26-year-old Travis Cobbs, told detectives that someone fired shots at him, so he returned fire before he was hit.

After Cobbs was treated at an area hospital, he admitted to investigators that he was in possession of a stolen gun. A check of his criminal history showed that he is also a convicted felon.

As a result, Cobbs was booked on charges of felon in possession of a firearm and illegal possession of a stolen firearm.

Deputies said the incident remains under investigation.
