Man wanted in suspicion of La. rape arrested in Fla.
BATON ROUGE – A man wanted in suspicion of raping a 17-year-old girl in Tangipahoa Parish has been caught in Florida, according to the Louisiana Attorney General’s office.
31-year-old Rusty Willie of Tickfaw was arrested after investigators said he fled Tangipahoa Parish when he learned about the rape warrants. At the time he was also out on bond for an accusation of raping a 12-year-old girl in the same parish.
Attorney General Buddy Caldwell said his office’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit assisted the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office and Hilsborough County Sheriff’s Office in Florida in finding and arresting Willie.
Willie was booked in Florida on warrants for simple rape, sexual battery and two counts of oral sexual battery. The charges together carry a maximum sentence of 55 years in prison.
