BATON ROUGE - Police arrested a 31-year-old overnight Friday in connection with a violent attack against a 15-year-old girl earlier this week.

Robert Jacobs, 31, was booked on charges of sexual battery and rape.  Police said he tied up and gagged the girl.  She was found in woods near a church a day later.

Jacobs is already a registered sex offender.  He surrendered to authorities with his attorney, police said in a news release.

Earlier, police said the girl was last seen leaving her home with at least one man but two others man have been with her.  Police did not identify specifics in the report about the arrest, though.

The girl was found Tuesday when a passerby heard the victim's screams and called police. She was treated at the hospital but has since been released.
