Man wanted in Lake Charles death added to FBI list
LAKE CHARLES - The FBI has added a man wanted for a 2008 rape and murder in Lake Charles to its Ten Most Wanted list.
Twenty-five-year-old Jose Manuel Garcia Guevara is accused of breaking into the home of 26-year-old Wanda Barton and her husband on Feb. 19, 2008 and raping and killing her.
The FBI says Guevara is accused of stabbing Barton to death in the presence of her 4-year-old son.
Guevara is believed to have returned to Mexico, although he may have returned to the United States using false documents.
The FBI made the announcement Monday at a news conference in Lake Charles.
Guevara was indicted by a grand jury in April 2008 on charges of second-degree murder, aggravated rape and aggravated burglary.
