Man turns self in after deadly hit-and-run, victim identified

ASCENSION PARISH – A man has turned himself in after a deadly hit-and-run crash in Ascension Parish Sunday night.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office announced 26-year-old Joseph Robert Lessard was wanted for one count of negligent homicide and one count of hit-and-run around noon Monday.

The sheriff's office identified the vicitm as 49-year-old Lisa Bradford of Galvez. Witnesses say she was struck and killed by a vehicle on Moody Dixon Road just before midnight.

The vehicle was later found unoccupied and registered to Lessard. 

The incident is still under investigation. 

The sheriff's office announced Lessard's arrest around 6:40 p.m. Monday afternoon.
