Man wanted for attempted murder in "family brawl"
BATON ROUGE - Police issued a warrant for a Baton Rouge man after they said knocked his father out and shot at several family members during a New Year's Day brawl.
Sgt. L'Jean McKneely said Michael Taylor II, 30, was wanted for attempted second-degree murder and other charges after the fight on Jan. 1 in the 1200 block of Convention Street.
McKneely said Taylor hit his 53-year-old father in the head with a blunt object, knocking him out and seriously injuring him, before he fired several shots at others involved in the family fight. He fled the scene before police arrived.
The same fight landed three others behind bars. Police arrested 40-year-old Kimberly Dean, 22-year-old James Dean, and 21-year-old Devin Dean in connection with the same fight. They face rioting charges, while Kimberly Dean also faces a charge of inciting a riot.
McKneely said anyone with information on Taylor's location should call the Violent Crimes Unit at (225) 389-4869.
