On Thursday, Ascension Parish Sheriff's Deputies responded to a burglary alarm at a home on Bourg Street in Donaldsonville. At the scene, deputies saw that the back door was opened and entered the home.

Inside, deputies found a shoe box that had been tipped over containing heroin.

As the investigation continued, narcotics detectives found 2.6 ounces of marijuana and 2.3 pounds of more heroin. The approximate street value of the heroin is $30,000. Authorities were able to identify 31-year-old Jamar Howard as the homeowner.
