Man survives nightmare crash into swamp
KENNER - A man riding a three-wheeled motorcycle was thrown over an elevated portion of the Interstate and into the swamp below Wednesday afternoon.
The motorcycles, who was not identified, was rescued and State Police posted pictures of the situation on its Facebook page. Troopers said the man had moderate injuries.
The crash happened in St. Charles Parish about a mile from the I-10/I-310 interchange near Kenner outside New Orleans. Investigators said the driver of the motorcycle lost control due to a mechanical failure and was ejected over the guardrail and into the swampy water below.
The pictures show firefighters from the St. John Fire Department using a ladder truck, a hoist and a platform to pull the man from the green, murky water that had a typical swamp grass covering.
The ordeal required lane closures but those have ended and traffic is moving again.
