GONZALES - Restaurant owners are searching for answers after security video caught a man stealing a tip jar.

The video shows a man taking the jar from a window at the Jambalaya Shoppe off of Airline Highway. The man then walked away from the window and left in a car that appeared to be driven by another person.

According to the original Facebook post of the security video, the incident happened around 1:20 p.m. The woman who posted the video mentions the man is wearing a black brace on his right arm. She says the car used to leave the restaurant made a left turn onto Burnside Avenue.

The woman who posted the original video says she did not contact police after the incident, instead deciding to share the video to social media in hopes of identifying the man.

The original video has now been viewed over 42 thousand times, and shared over Facebook nearly 1,600 times.
