WBRZ - Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE- A man who answered his apartment door this evening was gunned down just before 6:30pm. It happened at 12400 Jefferson Highway which is near Airline Highway.

Sheriff's Deputies said the man was transported to a hospital where he died. He has been identified as 41-year-old Ellis Banks.

Investigators believe he answered a knock at the door, and that's when someone opened fire.
