Man sentenced to 99 years for role in slaying
Jason Gainey has been sentenced to 99 years in prison for his role in the killing of a Mandeville woman during an aborted carjacking.
Police say he and Dominic Robinson followed Samantha Jaume and her four children home on July 4, 2001, with the intent of stealing the family's new SUV to sell for heroin.
Jaume was shot in the head after she couldn't find the keys to the vehicle.
Robinson has been convicted of first-degree murder and is awaiting sentencing.
