SLIDELL - Sheriff's deputies in St. Tammany Parish arrested a man today for misdemeanor theft.

His haul? A few pens from a government office, according to deputies.

Detectives arrested Edward Alan Lucas, 33, of Picayune, Miss. yesterday after they said he admitted to stealing three pens from the Slidell administrative building.

Investigators said Lucas came in Monday to ask clerks about getting a police report. The clerks told investigators he acted suspiciously while they pulled the files, and once he'd left they noticed three pens that were attached to chains on the counter were all missing.

Deputies said surveillance video showed Lucas taking the pens, and when he came back to speak to detectives today he admitted to stealing them.

Authorities booked Lucas into the parish jail in suspicion of misdemeanor theft. A bond has not yet been set.
