NEW ORLEANS- Police say a 61-year-old New Orleans man was found dead alongside Interstate 10 in eastern New Orleans.

Police found the body on the westbound side of the interstate near the Chef Menteur Highway exit around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Officer Frank Robertson said the man's car was found abandoned on an overpass above where his body was discovered.

The man's identity has not been released, pending notification of his family.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
