Man murdered outside lounge in Pointe Coupee Parish
NEW ROADS- The Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating the murder of a man outside of a lounge last night.
Family members say someone shot 36-year old Damon Brown last night as he went to get some late night food. It happened at Highway 420 and Saizon Road around 1:30 in the morning.
"It just don't make no sense," Brown's aunt, Elizabeth Jones said.
Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff Bud Torres said 25-year old Joshua Lewis is responsible for the shooting.
"Mr. Brown and Mr. Louis got into an altercation," Sheriff Torres said. "Mr. Louis pulled a weapon that he had on his person and actually shot Mr. Brown in the face."
Torres said Louis took off at that point. Today, investigators spent the day searching for clues around Jay's Place looking for clues.
"He fired three rounds," Torres said. "One hit Mr. Brown in the face. The other two we found in a car in the parking lot and can't account for the other."
Right now, Louis remains at large. Investigators said he is armed and dangerous.
"Turn yourself in without incident," Torres said. "The further, longer this progresses, we will put you in NCIC, we will turn your name over to US Marshals, be on every APB in South Louisiana, and everyone's going to be looking for you."
This is the second murder in New Roads in less than two weeks. Beulah Morris was beaten to death inside her home. Authorities arrested her grandson in connection to it.
