HOUSTON, TX - The Coast Guard has rescued a crewmember of a Gulf of Mexico offshore supply boat whose foot was severed in an accident.

The Coast Guard in Houston on Thursday afternoon dispatched a helicopter to airlift the 27-year-old man from a vessel about 5 miles off Louisiana.

Officials say the victim's foot was severed after getting caught in a line. The man was transported to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital and was in stable condition.

His name and further details on his condition weren't immediately available.
