Man killed when train, log truck collide
PLAIN DEALING - A crash involving a train and a log truck in Bossier Parish has left a Simsboro man dead.
A preliminary investigation by Louisiana State Police shows that a 2015 Mack tractor, pulling an empty log trailer, was headed west Wednesday on Industrial Drive near Louisiana Highway 3 when 43-year-old Roman Moore drove into the path of a southbound Union Pacific freight train. The impact pushed the truck 4/10th of a mile down the tracks.
State police say Moore was unrestrained at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A toxicology sample was obtained from Moore for analysis.
The crash occurred at a crossing with no active warning devices. However, a railroad crossing sign and stop sign are visible.
The crash remains under investigation.
