Man killed two years after daughter died
NEW ORLEANS - A man shot to death in New Orleans has been identified as the father of a little girl who died amid gun violence in 2011.
Twenty-five-year-old Rakeem Holmes was shot to death Saturday night. Police said Holmes was found on a sidewalk and pronounced dead at the scene. No suspects have been identified.
The Times-Picayune reports that Holmes was identified at the scene by the Rev. Lisa Fitzpatrick. She said she had taken Holmes under her wing after the death of his daughter.
Two-year-old Keira Holmes was killed when gunfire erupted while she played outside the B.W. Cooper housing development in 2011.
