Man killed in Ponchatoula wreck
PONCHATOULA - Monday, sheriff's deputies released details of a deadly crash that happened over the weekend.
Nat John Colona, 45, died in the single-vehicle wreck northeast of downtown Saturday night. Colona was from Hammond.
Investigators said Colona lost control at a sharp, left curve where North 1st Street becomes Lavigne Road. Lavigne connects to South Range Road.
Colona's sedan hit a tree after veering off the highway. He was pronounced dead on the scene by the coroner's office.
He was not wearing a seat belt and blood samples were taken to determine if he was intoxicated.
