Man killed in crash south of Nottoway Plantation
WHITE CASTLE- A Paulina, La. man was killed Saturday night after his vehicle crashed on LA Hwy. 1 north of the Hwy. 993 intersection in White Castle. That's just south of Nottoway Plantation.
Louisiana State Police troopers responded to the crash after 11 p.m.
Authorities say 52-year-old Armise Thomas, III was driving southbound on Hwy. 1 when his vehicle ran off the roadway after crossing the median and northbound lanes of the highway. The vehicle hit a ditch, struck an embankment and went airborne before striking a pole, according to a release.
Thomas was unrestrained and was ejected during the crash. He suffered fatal injuries and died as a result. Troopers say excessive speed is considered a factor in the crash.
A toxicology sample was taken and submitted to the LSP Crime Lab.
