AMITE, La.- A man died in a car crash during a funeral procession. It happened Saturday afternoon on LA 16 in Tangipahoa Parish.

Louisiana State Police identified the victim as 76-year-old Ira Vaughn, of Amite, La.

Investors found that Vaughn pulled out of a driveway into the path of an Amite Police Department police unit. The police unit was escorting the funeral procession.

Louisiana State Police say Vaughn was thrown from the vehicle upon impact because he was not wearing a seat belt. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
