PRAIRIEVILLE - A 43-year-old man died after being thrown from his truck during a crash Friday night.

The wreck happened at the intersection of US 61 and LA 73 around 9 p.m.  State Police said Robert Edwards, Gonzales, was driving a larger pickup behind a sedan when he ran into the back, side of the car in front of him.  Edwards' pickup overturned multiple times following the collision. 

Edwards was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle.  He died at the scene.

Investigators said it is unknown if Edwards was intoxicated, and as is customary in a deadly crash, a toxicology sample will be taken for analysis.  The other driver was not impaired, was wearing a seatbelt and survived the crash.
