GONZALES- A Houston man is dead after a crash in Ascension Parish.
It happened around 2:30am Saturday morning.
According to police, Christian Salinas stepped into the path of an 18-wheeler travelling west on LA 30 near Ashland Road.
Reportedly the driver, Aaron Dunbar, saw Salinas but wasn't able to stop his car in time.
32-year-old Salinas was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police say Dunbar stopped his vehicle and notified authorities of the crash.
Dunbar voluntarily submitted a breath sample. Police say it came back with no detectable alcohol in his system.
However, troopers suspect alcohol to have been a factor for Salinas and have submitted his blood for analysis.
This is the third fatal crash involving a pedestrian in this area in less than a week.
