Man killed, animals injured after trailer fire in Livingston Parish

SPRINGFIELD- One man is dead after a trailer caught fire in Livingston Parish early Tuesday morning.

The fire was reported in the 25000 block of East Street in Springfield. The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal reports that a 54-year-old man was found face down in a bedroom.

Two cats and a dog were also found at the home. The animals were severely burned. Authorities say the structure has been deemed a total loss. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

At this time, authorities have not determined if there were working smoke alarms inside the home.
