Man indicted in child beating death
ZACHARY - A grand jury indicted a Zachary man today in the death of his girlfriend's young child.
The grand jury charged Willie Stone, 23, with the second-degree murder in the April 15 death of Azaria Johnson.
Stone told investigators at first that the 18-month-old child was unresponsive when he woke her up Monday. After an autopsy, it was determined the child died because of blunt force trauma to the head.
When East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's deputies questioned Stone, they said he eventually admitted to striking Azaria while her mother was working.
