Update: Man in custody after deadly shooting, name released

UPDATE: Authorities with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office confirm that the suspect is Richard Matthews, 53, from Slaughter, LA.  The two women killed were secretaries at the construction company.  The third woman shot was a dispatcher.  Her condition has been upgraded to stable.

UPDATE: A man investigators say opened fire at Grady Crawford Construction Company in Baton Rouge was transported to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office around 2:40 p.m.

He told a News 2 photographer he did it because of a dispute over unemployment benefits.  Investigators confirm he was a former employee, but they have not released the man's name.

Two people were killed and a third was taken to a local hospital.  Investigators say another worker managed to wrestle the gun from the shooter.

UPDATE:  Two women killed during a shooting at Grady Crawford Construction in Baton Rouge today are identified as Dianna Tullier, 44, of Walker and Cheryl Boykin, 55 of Denham Springs.  They were pronounced dead at the scene.  Both were clerical workers.  Another victim is hospitalized in stable condition.  The gunman shot at a fourth employee but missed before he was tackled by another worker.   East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Investigators say the suspected gunman, Richard Matthews, 55 of Slaughter, is charged with two counts of first degree murder and two counts of attempted first degree murder.  Matthews is being held in parish prison. His employment and dismissal from the company is being investigated.

    No excuse for this.  Sorry for the loss.  This goes to show how desperate people will go in this economy to get money especially if they feel they have been wronged in some way.  If he had a family thank God he didn't start off with them.

    He won't be getting any unemployment benefits but he will be getting room and board instead.

    now he doesn't need unemployment the working people are paying for him now.
