Derrick Williams, 28, will spend the rest of his life in prison after agreeing to a plea deal in the shooting of Alfred Mequet, 71, in October of 2007.
Court documents claim Williams sneaked up on Mequet, who was working security at a local fruit stand, stole his gun and demanded money. When Mequet raised his hands claiming there was no money, Williams shot him with both guns.
The murder was also captured on security cameras which helped investigators nab Williams.
Williams agreed to a contract for life, which means he cannot appeal the ruling.
News 2 will have more on the ruling later in the day.
