Man gets 90 years for $60 robbery
A man who rejected a 25-year plea bargain has been sentenced to 90 years in prison for robbing a 77-year-old woman in the garage of her Metairie home.
Luhron Gorman was convicted of armed robbery by a jury in Gretna earlier this month.
He also was found guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The Times-Picayune said that Gorman blamed the robbery on a co-defendant, who got 20 years for a guilty plea.
The 23-year-old Gorman was sentenced Monday.
But prosecutors are seeking up to another 110 years in prison for past convictions of crack cocaine possession and possession with intent to distribute crack.
Authorities say about $60 was taken in the heist.
