A Zachary man received a deferred two-year prison sentence for the June 2008 hit-and-run death
of a St. Francisville pedestrian.
Darryl Whittington will serve two years of supervised probation and pay a $1,000 fine.
He pleaded no contest to hit-and-run driving after his indictment in the death of Angela Davis Guins.
Whittington's pickup truck struck Guins on U.S. Highway 61, and another motorist found her lying in the road.
Whittington told authorities that he thought he had hit a deer.
