ASCENSION- A man from Geismar who was wanted by the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office for illegal use of weapons, aggravated second-degree battery and aggravated assault with a firearm turned himself into authorities on Wednesday afternoon.

45-year-old Andre Scott was wanted by authorities following an incident that happened on May 10th.

According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the Geismar Grocery after a male victim walked into the grocery store with a laceration to his head.

Deputies learned that the victim was hit over the head with a handgun by Scott after the two had an altercation at Scott’s home, which is near the grocery store.

It was later learned that the victim received a ride from someone from Scott’s residence to the grocery store.

Scott then followed them to the grocery store, but fled the scene after deputies were called.

Deputies obtained a search warrant of Scott’s residence and found a 9 mm handgun under a mattress and prescription drugs.

Scott was not at the residence at the time the search warrant was executed.

Scott will be booked into the Ascension Parish Jail awaiting bond.
