JACKSON, Tenn. - Tennessee authorities say an Ohio man who was apparently carjacked and kidnapped by two fugitives who escaped from Louisiana has been found dead at an Alabama hotel.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agent John Mehr said Thursday the body of 53-year-old David Michael Cupps was found at a hotel in Bessemer, Ala.

Police said the fugitives were pulled over in Tennessee on Tuesday evening in a car had been rented by Cupps, of the Columbus suburb of Sunbury, but 33-year-old Darian "Drake" Pierce of Bogalusa, La., and 36-year-old Ricky Wedgeworth of Memphis ran off.

West Tennessee authorities are still searching for the men, who escaped Friday from a Louisiana State Police compound in a state van.
