WBRZ - Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE - An investigation is underway after a duplex fire Tuesday night in Baton Rouge.

Fire broke out on one side of the duplex on Lorraine Ave. just before 10pm.

The resident inside was in his bedroom when he smelled smoke and went to investigate. That's when he saw flames coming from the kitchen.

The man was able to return to the bedroom and escape the flames through a window.

The residents on the other side of the duplex were also able to escape unharmed.

Investigators believe the fire started near a stove in one of the homes.

The Red Cross is assisting the displaced victims.
