Man dies, charges upgraded, after being attacked while sleeping
BATON ROUGE- Charges have been upgraded against a man, accused of beating a man at a group home, after the victim died.
A spokesperson with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office said Richard Ray Gore, 66, was beaten with a steel bar at the home on 11342 East Big Bend Avenue. Wilson Cousin, Jr., 46, now faces second-degree murder charges. After the attack on March 23, 2013, he was charged with aggravated second-degree battery.
Gore was attacked in his sleep, EBRSO spokesperson Casey Hicks said.
Cousin said he used a three-foot long bar to go after Gore because Gore had continuously disrespect him and called him names.
