Man dies after fall from float

NEW ROADS- A man was killed after falling off a float earlier today. It happened while the float was being towed away from one of the two parades earlier today.
James Lee, 58, was killed when, according to State Police, he " slipped and fell to the ground as the float was being towed forward. The float continued rolling forward and Lee was crushed." Then, Lee was hit by a pick-up following behind.
It happened shortly after 5:30pm on LA 10 near LA 420.
Troopers do not suspect alcohol to have been a factor in the crash.
