Man claims he stole $80,000 then tossed it all over O'Neal Lane
BATON ROUGE - City police continue to search for $80,000 stolen from the Loomis armored car company.
A guard for the company was arrested on theft charges in early January, but the loot he is accused of stealing is still missing. Kenneth Kelly, Jr, 24, was charged with felony theft. He bonded out of jail on January 21st. Tuesday, investigators said the case against him and where he stashed the stolen money is still open.
A supervisor reported to police that money was missing and Kelly was seen on surveillance recordings stashing a bag of $80,000 in his work locker then transferring it to his vehicle.
When Kelly was arrested he told investigators he threw the money out of his car on O'Neal Lane, arrest documents obtained by WBRZ News 2 reported. Kelly allegedly told officers he could not remember where on O'Neal he tossed $80,000.
