Man charged with stealing timber
JENA - A 39-year-old man from Jena has been charged with felony theft of timber.
The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry says James Marcus Ainsworth was arrested Monday and booked into the LaSalle Parish jail on two counts of felony timber theft totaling just over $18,600.
This wasn't the first time Ainsworth was accused of timber theft. In September and in October, forestry agents booked him on timber theft charges.
Officials say the new arrest stemmed from complaints by two LaSalle Parish landowners. The landowners alleged Ainsworth did not pay them what he had promised to pay them for cutting timber on their land.
