Man arrested in backhoe theft

Authorities in Livingston Parish say they found a stolen backhoe at a home in Denham Springs. Kurt Freeman, 44, was arrested in the case.

The backhoe, valued at over $50,000, was reported stolen on Sept. 8 from a construction site.  On Nov. 14, someone reported a backhoe being towed down Hwy. 1032, south of Denham Springs.

The tip led deputies to Freeman's home, where they say they found the heavy machine.

Freeman, 44, is being charged with Illegal Possession of Stolen Things.
