Man arrested for wildlife vandalism
MORGAN CITY - Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries officials say an 18-year-old Morgan City man has been arrested for his alleged role in vandalizing equipment on the Atchafalaya Delta Wildlife Management Area.
Authorities say Aaron LeCompte turned himself into St. Mary Parish deputies Friday and was booked on two counts of unlawful use of a vehicle and simple criminal damage to property.
The investigation began when a state bulldozer and utility vehicle were first noticed missing on July 24 on the Big Island portion of the Atchafalaya Delta area.
Officials say the missing equipment was found later that evening.
The bulldozer was buried in mud and water up to the floorboard.
The utility vehicle was found in a ditch.
