Man arrested for vehicular homicide after December crash
ST. MARTINVILLE, La. - Louisiana State Police have re-arrested a man involved in a two-vehicle crash in St. Martin Parish last month after a woman died from her injuries.
Master Trooper Brooks David, in a news release Monday, says 30-year-old Emmanuel Wiltz, of Breaux Bridge, was initially booked with vehicular negligent injuring, DWI and other charges and released on bond.
David says Wiltz was driving south Dec. 30 on Louisiana Highway 328 when his truck veered into the northbound lane, striking 56-year-old Betty Borel's vehicle head on. Both were wearing seatbelts, but Borel, of Breaux Bridge, succumbed to her injuries.
On Jan 2, Wiltz was booked with vehicular homicide. It was unknown whether he has an attorney.
Toxicology samples from both Wiltz and Borel were submitted to the state police crime lab for analysis.
