Man arrested for stealing cooking oil
CHALMETTE - A 57-year-old New Orleans man has been arrested for allegedly stealing 300 gallons of used cooking oil from a Chalmette restaurant.
St. Bernard Parish deputies say he then fled, driving wildly past vehicles down La. Highway 46 on Saturday before he was stopped.
The Times-Picayune reports Frank Nelson was booked with theft of cooking oil. The sheriff's office said that the oil was worth more than $500.
Deputies say the cooking oil was kept behind the restaurant in a large drum.
Nelson allegedly pulled up his large pick-up truck and hauled it away.
