Man arrested for DWI after crashing into Scenic Hwy telephone pole
BATON ROUGE - Police arrested a man accused of driving while intoxicated Thursday after he lost control of his pickup truck and crashed into a telephone pole on Scenic Highway.
Investigators said 59-year-old Quention Lee was headed north in the 7000 block of Scenic Hwy around noon Thursday when he lost control of his Dodge Ram truck and collided with the pole. Lee then left the scene but was located shorty after by police. The passenger of the vehicle was injured during the crash.
When officers made contact with Lee, they said the man’s speech was heavily slurred, and he smelled strongly of alcohol. Lee stated he had had one beer the day before and was sorry for hitting the pole.
Police took Lee to the 1st District Precinct where officers observed him for 15 minutes and then administered a breath test with a result of .239. Lee was then booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
