BATON ROUGE - The man arrested for hitting and killing a woman with his car on Mohican-Prescott early Sunday morning is out of jail.
He met his bail of $41,000 Monday afternoon and walked out the gates of the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison around 4:15.
Police arrested Larry Pate, 29, and charged him with felony hit and run and driving without a license.
Investigators said Raven Nicole Wright Southerland was crossing Mohican-Prescott after a fight with her boyfriend when she was struck by Pate's car.
Detectives said Pate did not stop driving and left the scene. Witnesses gave police enough information to arrest Pate for the death Sunday night.
Southerland would have turned 32 Tuesday. Her daughter, Dyma Louis, is one of five children left reeling from the loss of their mother.
"It's just crazy that she's gone," Louis told News 2. "Don't nobody know what do to."
Louis is helping to plan her mother's funeral in St. James Parish.
